Gliding Video

September 19, 2012

I've been wanting to get some kind of camera stabilizer for a while.  Something that was mobile enough to take almost anywhere and that enabled me to get away from the handheld shots when a tripod or dolly just won't work.  I've been watching a lot of amature/professional video lately and I love the gliding look that Steadicam/Glidecam's give.

Fast forward to about a month ago when I met a very talented videographer named David Perry (click here to see David's website,, just remember to come back.  On second thought, maybe you should wait a while to come back after watching his award winning videos before coming back and watching any of mine :).  David was doing video at my brother in law's wedding.  He was using a Glidecam and he was nice enough to let me try it out for a second and he also showed me some of the shots he was getting with it.  He used a DSLR camera, which is what I've started using and am planning on using going forward.

At that point I was sold on a Glidecam.  I got my hands on one this past week.  This is a stock photo, but this is pretty much what mine looks like - just imagine a Nikon instead of a Canon DSLR sitting on top.

PS: Our very talented friend Cori, who designed this blog also designed the Hedges Films logo that's both on the top of this blog as well as at the end of the flower video.  You can visit her site here.
