Little Miss Sunshine Preview
I am working on another family video and I had the opportunity to get some footage during a recent Jayna Hedges Photography photoshoot to include in the video. This is my sister-in-law's family. Her husband is awesome and her little girl, my niece, couldn't be any more adorable. We did this shoot at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert, AZ and the lighting was great.

I'll Drive
October 15, 2012
I decided to do this video after watching a video on Vimeo about using your car to make videos (that shows how to make it look like someone is driving when they're not and also buying a suction cup mount that I could attach to the outside (and inside) of the car. Next I had to find two very talented actresses to play the roles, luckily Jayna and Shaylin were in between roles so they were available. The lighting and the sound aren't the greatest, but I think whoever does the oscar nominations will agree that the acting is top notch.
I shot all of the video on a Nikon AW100, which I usually use for underwater video/pictures and also as a point and shoot when I don't have my DSLR. But it worked well for the shots where the suction cup mount was outside of the car, so I ended up using it for all the video so it all had the same look. Someday I might buy a mount for the outside of the car that I'd be willing to attach a more expensive/heavier camera to, but for now I was still too nervous to attach my DSLR to it.

Where the Wild Things Are (Family Video Preview)
My wife had a photo shoot last week and I went with her since I'm starting a family video for the family she was taking pictures of. They are a good looking family and they're a lot of fun. The kids were very good sports to sit through all of the pictures and video on a warm afternoon. I put together a quick 'Preview' video from the photo session of some of the clips that we'll be able to use in the family video. The pictures in the video are used courtesy of Jayna Hedges Photography.

Hockey Symphony
September 25, 2012
I've started working on a family video for our good friends. I had the opportunity late last week to go get some footage of my buddy's hockey game to include in the video. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to most sports, but I don't know very much at all about hockey. I think my friend realized that when I started asking him questions before the game like ''Is Wayne Gretzky still on the Kings?' and 'How many points is a touchdown worth in hockey?' Ok not quite that bad, but pretty close.

Gliding Video
September 19, 2012
I've been wanting to get some kind of camera stabilizer for a while. Something that was mobile enough to take almost anywhere and that enabled me to get away from the handheld shots when a tripod or dolly just won't work. I've been watching a lot of amature/professional video lately and I love the gliding look that Steadicam/Glidecam's give.
Fast forward to about a month ago when I met a very talented videographer named David Perry (click here to
see David's website,, just remember to come back. On second thought,
maybe you should wait a while to come back after watching his award
winning videos before coming back and watching any of mine :). David
was doing video at my brother in law's wedding. He was using a Glidecam
and he was nice enough to let me try it out for a second and he also
showed me some of the shots he was getting with it. He used a DSLR
camera, which is what I've started using and am planning on using going
forward.
At
that point I was sold on a Glidecam. I got my hands on one this past
week. This is a stock photo, but this is pretty much what mine looks
like - just imagine a Nikon instead of a Canon DSLR sitting on top.
PS:
Our very talented friend Cori, who designed this blog also designed the
Hedges Films logo that's both on the top of this blog as well as at the
end of the flower video. You can visit her site here.

Meet Our Family
September 11, 2012
This is a little video of our family that I did back in June of this year. I wanted to do something that showed a little bit about who we are, what we like to do, and that captured a little bit of our children's fun personalities.

Lego Tower
September 8, 2012
One of my son's favorite things to do right now is making towers out of Legos. These are the types of things I want to remember as his and my life goes on. I made this video today of him making one of his towers.
I shot this on a Nikon D300s, which
is a camera we'd been using for the last year or so to shoot still
pictures. I like the way the DSLR video looks and the ability to switch
lenses, so I've recently started shooting more video with it.
